For Everyone
Accessibility Statement
Last updated: April 2026
Weddings are for everyone. So is this website.
Gonzalo Novoa Photography is committed to ensuring this site is usable by as many people as possible — regardless of disability, device, or technical setup. This page outlines what I've done, what I'm still working on, and how to reach me if something isn't working for you.
What I've Done
This site has been built with accessibility in mind from the ground up:
- — Proper heading structure (H1 through H4) so screen readers can navigate the page logically
- — Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images — not just "image.jpg" type stuff
- — Decorative-only images are marked so screen readers skip them
- — Colour contrast ratios that meet WCAG AA standards throughout
- — Keyboard-navigable menus and interactive elements
- — Semantic HTML used throughout — buttons are buttons, links are links
- — No content that flashes more than 3 times per second
- — Forms with clearly labelled fields and helpful error messages
What I'm Still Working On
I'll be straight with you — this site is a work in progress and I'm a photographer, not a full-time accessibility engineer. Here are known areas I'm actively improving:
- — The embedded Google Reviews widget (third-party) — limited control over its accessibility
- — Video content — captions and transcripts are on the roadmap
- — Some older blog post images may have limited alt text — I'm working through them
Technical Standards
This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. These are the widely accepted international standards for web accessibility.
The site is built with Astro, uses semantic HTML5, and has been reviewed with screen reader testing and keyboard-only navigation in mind.
Compatibility
This site is designed to work with:
- — Modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (current versions)
- — Screen readers — NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS
- — Mobile devices — both iOS and Android
- — Keyboard-only navigation
- — Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content
Something Not Working?
If you're having trouble accessing any part of this site, please get in touch. I take this seriously and I'll do my best to help — or fix the issue promptly.
You can reach me at:
hello@novoaweddings.com.auPlease include as much detail as you can — what you were trying to do, what device and browser you're using, and what went wrong. I'll get back to you quickly.
Formal Complaints
If you're not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission, which handles complaints related to disability discrimination under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
I genuinely hope it never comes to that — but it's important you know the option exists.
