Lloyd & Mitch's Riverside Wedding at Burswood on Swan
Table of Contents
Two Grooms, One River
Lloyd and Mitch had been together a few years by the time they said their vows on the banks of the Swan River, and it showed. There is an easy warmth between two people who have already built a life together, and theirs came with a big, generous helping of family. From the very first chat, what they kept coming back to was not the styling or the timeline, it was the people. Getting everyone they love in one place, and throwing a proper celebration. That was the whole point.
Family runs deep for these two, and you could feel it in the details. The cream barong they and their parents wore, the aunties and uncles gathered close, the napkins waving overhead later in the night. It was a day that carried where they come from into how they celebrated.
A quick note before we go on. There were little ones in the mix on the day, and as a rule we do not share photos of children without explicit permission from their parents, so you will not see their faces here.
The Little Details
They leaned into a moody, elegant look, black linen, gold accents and a guest dress code to match. The tables were dark and glinting, the favours read “Mint to be,” and the rings arrived under guard in a little RING SECURITY case. Serious about the day, not too serious about themselves. Exactly the right energy.
A Ceremony on the Swan River
The ceremony happened out on the riverside lawn, under a black triangular arbour with the Swan River and the Perth skyline stretched out behind. Guests took their seats in the sun, all in black, and the whole thing had a quiet, cinematic weight to it before a word was even spoken.
Rather than a traditional procession, the people who matter most walked in together, parents and family down the aisle first, setting the tone for a day built entirely around them.
Then came the vows. There is nothing quite like watching two people say the words they have been carrying around for weeks, out loud, in front of everyone they love.
Rings on, certificate signed with their dads standing witness, and just like that they were married, with the river sparkling behind them.
Everyone Together
Before the light got too good to waste, we gathered the people closest to them for a few frames. Quick, warm, and full of the crew who got them here.
Golden Hour on the Water
This is the part I had been waiting for. As the sun dropped, the lawn and the river turned gold, and the two of them finally got a few minutes to themselves. We wandered the water’s edge, ran a little, laughed a lot, and let the skyline do its thing across the water.
And Then the Lights Came On
The best-kept secret at Burswood on Swan is what happens after dark. Once the city and the Matagarup bridge lit up across the water, we stole the two of them outside for one more set. Photos you genuinely cannot get anywhere else in Perth.
Inside for the Party
Then it was indoors, into the glass-walled room with the river on one side and string lights overhead, for the part everyone had been waiting for. They made their entrance to a room full of waving napkins and cheering, and the night took off from there.
For their first dance, the floor filled with low cloud, and the two of them danced on what looked like the surface of the river itself.
Then they pulled their mums onto the floor, and the whole room disappeared into the clouds.
There was cake, there were speeches that had them both wiping their eyes, and there was a dance floor that did not let up.
By the end of the night, barong sleeves rolled up and shoes long gone, the two of them were exactly where they wanted to be. Married, surrounded by their favourite people, on the edge of the river.
